There are several cocktails named after dogs. Most famous are SALTY DOG and GREYHOUND (vodka or gin with grapefruit juice). But there are also ASTA COLLINS from The Thin Man (1934) and ITALIAN GREYHOUND. All of them contain grapefruit juice.
Ingredients
Greyhound / Salty Dog
1½ oz. / 45 ml Vodka or Gin
3 oz. / 90 ml Grapefruit juice
Salty rim (if you’re making Salty Dog)
Garnish with a Lime wheel or Grapefruit peel
Italian Greyhound
2 oz. / 60 ml Vodka
3 oz. / 90 ml Grapefruit juice
½ oz. / 15 ml Campari
The Asta Collins
2 oz. / 60 ml Vodka or Tequila
½ oz. / 15 ml Lime juice
1 oz. / 30 ml Grapefruit juice
½ oz. / 15 ml Simple syrup
½ oz. / 15 ml Campari
Splash of Club soda
Recipe
Salty Dog / Greyhound
Fill a rocks glass with ice, then add the vodka or gin and the grapefruit juice and stir gently.
Garnish with a lime wheel or grapefruit peel.
Italian Greyhound
Pour the grapefruit juice and vodka into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously with ice.
Strain into a old fashioned or highball glass filled with ice.
Sink Campari to the bottom.

Shake, strain, and top with soda water. Then garnish with a lime wheel for a touch of class.
